Test Technician, Hydraulic Lab

Summary –
The Test Technician will install and operate test programs for small-scale models of hydraulic turbines and pump turbines, per customer specification and applicable test code. The incumbent in this role will assist test engineer with the laboratory maintenance, and for the efficient procurement of transducers and test equipment.
Responsibilities –
- Assist test engineer with purchase of transducers as required to successfully conduct test programs
- Assist test engineer with implementing the test program by purchase of equipment, modification of existing equipment, or building new equipment
- Work with outside calibration facilities to regularly re-certify our internal standards to NIST standard according to time interval specified in hydraulic laboratory SOP
- Set-up analog to digital amplifier and electrical conditioning equipment for testing
- Install, connect, and calibrate transducers for testing
- Conduct test to acquire data
- Assist test engineer for maintenance of all test equipment including model hydrostatic bearings. Major equipment includes service pumps and motors, hydraulic valves and actuators, electrical drives, air compressors and vacuum pumps, water chiller, test stand dynamometers, PLC, analog-to-digital converters, and signal conditioners
- Work on all tests stand related measuring devices and transducers
- Keep spare parts in stock
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Interface with hydraulic designers, mechanical designers, model manufacturing teams, and customers during execution of model test programs
- Responsible for special projects
- Maintain and operate 3D printer
- Maintain and operate optical scanner for model part inspection
Qualifications –
- Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology
- Prior experience of electrical and electronic circuit operations is required
- Experience in testing and instrumentation are highly desirable
- Knowledge of data acquisition system and instrumentation as well as knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) is required
- Ability to multi-task based on business needs
- Excellent time management skills
