SUMMARY: The Project Manager will lead internal and customer projects.  The project manager will from the time of order receipt until the order is completed manage to the satisfaction of the principal stakeholders.  At times, the Project Manager will assist the Sales and Marketing team with the submission of complex Original Equipment bids as well as supporting service projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Primary interface to the customer on assigned Mobility Projects
  • Direct the activities and cooperation between the Voith project teams in Germany and York
    • Ensuring that the stakeholders are well-informed about the project’s status
    • Communicating technical, application, operational, and organizational requirements internally
    • Managing customer communications externally
    • Executing the project management plan
    • Managing changes to the project
    • Monitor and report on project fiscal activity.  Work to improve the fiscal performance of the project throughout the life of the project
  • Maintain direct communication to the Director of Ops, Project Management Mobility to keep local and regional project management practices and processes aligned with global best practice
  • Provide support to the sales organization to ensure a smooth transition of the project from the offer to order phase (OTO) to the order to cash (OTC) phase
  • Provide direction to the operations organization to ensure that plans are executed accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor the progress of the project, problem solve and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide support to operations to allow for proper inventory management
  • Create and maintain contract books
  • Update and maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor inventory and operations performance
  • Assist in the submission of key/complex bids and customer meetings relative to those bids
  • Travel to customer sites for reviews, problem solving and relationship building.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years of experience in project management
  • Understanding of business processes
  • Experience with passenger transit a plus

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend complex commercial documents
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
