Summary –

The Quality Engineer Intern will work directly with the Sr. Manager Quality, Olympus Vendor Representatives, and Engineering department to develop in house designs of 3D printed phased array UT holders, 3D models of areas to scan with PUAT equipment, design encoding devices, PAUT alignment aids, and all aspects of the programs for PAUT implementation.


Responsibilities –

  • Array holder design interfacing with Olympus engineering with 3D models of areas to be scanned with PAUT,
  • Development of in-house design and 3D printing additional array holders,
  • Design and 3D printing array alignment aids for Francis runner PAUT areas,
  • Design of positional encoding device interface for X & Y axis positional feedback,
  • Design of array coupling (water) feed and collection,
  • Implementation of PAUT 3D simulation and data analysis software,
  • Redesign of calibration standards for PAUT,
  • Development of PAUT inspection and hardcopy reports to document inspection,
  • Documentation/procedures preparation for application of PAUT on specific components,
  • Planning of development of P/T discharge edge semi-automated scanning, &
  • Review of other components requiring UT to plan for PAUT implementation.


Qualifications –

  • Basic mechanical engineering (at least starting year 2)
  • CAD/3D modeling experience
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and be highly organized
  • Must be a reliable, self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to meet and interface with co-workers and vendors and proactively work to resolve issues and accomplish tasks.
  • Strong ability to multi-task while maintaining the ability to meet deadlines for a variety of assignments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • The job requires travel.
