Summary- This job entails working in a fast-paced production environment. Main tasks include visual and dimensional inspections utilizing inspection and test gages, basic coordinate measuring equipment, laser inspection, inspection of welds, castings, and forgings using nondestructive testing (NDE) including VT, MT, UT, and PT tests.
Responsibilities -
The employee is responsible to:
- Perform complex inspection work in accordance with Voith documented procedures and work independently
- Utilize and understand basic dimensional inspection hand tools e.g.: micrometers, height gages, calipers, machinist scales, squares, etc.
- Conduct mechanical inspections using manual precision measuring equipment e.g.: calipers, micrometers, tape measures, thread gages, dial bore gages, etc.
- Conduct hardness and surface finish tests
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities using NDT methods of
inspection
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
- Interpret digital readouts, and visual indicators
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Complete documentation of inspections on reports, organize photographic documentation, make sketches/diagrams, document repair progress and report final test results
- May perform inspection(s) for customer witness inspection
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management
- Interface daily with the management about work priorities and progress of projects
- Actively participate in any assigned training programs, planning and strategy session
- Work closely with quality team to identify and remove obstacles
- Actively participate in safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
- May, at times work at heights on ladders and/or elevated work platforms
- Other responsibilities may include operation of forklifts and overhead cranes (up to 15 Tons) and maintaining general cleanliness of work areas
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- CAD training
- Be capable of initial qualification MT Level II, PT Level II, and UT Level I/Level II and successfully maintain these qualifications throughout employment in this role. (QA-206)
- Basic discipline aptitude/attitude
- Must be able to pass Blueprint Reading course (provided by Voith)
- The employee must successfully maintain the above listed NDE qualifications throughout employment in this role.

- The employee is required to talk and/or hear in an industrial setting (noise level can be high at times). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an industrial environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, lift, stoop, crouch or climb a ladder. The employee must be able to properly wear and utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
