Summary – The Manager, Health Safety & Environment for Field Service US is responsible for identifying, controlling, and eliminating HSE issues that may pose a threat to workers, environment, or communities.  Essential duties and responsibilities include design and implementation of HSE programs that ensures the company success in achieving a “world-class” safety culture at all levels within the organization with focus on construction sites within US. 

Responsibilities –

  • Designs, improves, and implements functional safety, health and environmental programs that continually improve site safety results. 
  • Co-develops annual goals/objectives for Field Services department with department head.
  • Responsible for OSHA, EPA compliance, and exceeding of those standards for US Field sites.
  • Implements a root-cause hazard and injury process system which continuously improves underlying safety conditions.
  • Maintains certification in the ISO program elements for the VHNA.
  • Develops and delivers training for all employees initially and annually as required.  Maintains all training records in an electronic format.
  • Establishes schedules and completes HSE audits at sites.  Annually implements a Management System and Environmental Compliance audit for field service sites.
  • Stays current with OSHA/EPA regulations and Voith AG Directives to ensure 100 percent compliance with new standards.  Makes recommendations to the HSE Manager for the successful implementation of new programs with consideration of potential financial impacts.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports for Field Operations. 
  • Develops site specific HSE plans to include, JSA’s, Emergency Response, SOP’s, Fall Protection Plans, Lead/Asbestos, and others directly related to HSE for the successful prevention/ reduction in incidents.
  • Develops Industrial Hygiene Testing Plans for sites and coordinates sub-contractors to conduct all IH testing at sites.  Interprets results and develops appropriate actions plan and communication of results.

Qualifications –


  • B.S. in Safety or equivalent of education and experience.  Health and Safety Engineering degree preferred.
  • Analytical, conceptual and implementation skills
  • 8-10 years in a progressive HSE leadership role in construction.
  • 80% travel within United States and Canada
