Summary 

The incumbent in this position identifies, controls, and eliminate HSE issues in a continuous effort to improve the work environment at the company.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the design and implementation of HSE programs as well as keep the routine of data accuracy and updates needed for KPI’s and needed in multiple systems required by our customers or federal, state, or local compliance. The incumbent is a knowledgeable individual contributor that works both as an internal HSE advisor as well as a hands-on colleague. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Drive a Culture of HSE throughout the plants to reduce incidents. 

  • Identify and implement ways to improve HSE procedures and policies. 

  • Update and follow all KPIs and requirements for compliance status maintenance with clients and authorities. 

  • Maintains HSE Management System and documentation. 

  • Control emergency response incidents and support corporate HSE activities. 

  • Analyze and provide support to the site on accidents investigations, incidents or near misses and deliver strong corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence. 

  • Manage Workers’ Compensation Claims and Return to Work programs. 

  • Active participation and leadership of HSE committees within the supported locations. 

  • Inform and consult on matters of planning, execution, and maintenance of workshop equipment; purchasing technical equipment; training on health and safety procedures; designing workplaces and workstations, working processes as well as emergency precautions 

  • Ability to work independently and capable of forming strong working relationships/partnerships with Site Leadership teams and hourly work force 

  • A thorough knowledge of applicable government regulations, safety compliance, and industrial hygiene. 

  • Business acumen, strong analytical skills, strategic thinking abilities, and an understanding of organizational behavior. 

 

 

Qualifications  

  • B.S. in Health & Safety or equivalent of education. 

  • 0-5 - Years of progressive relevant HSE experience. 

  • GSP, ASP, CHST, CSP, or similar certification would be an asset 

  • Strong computer, written, oral interpersonal communication skills. 

  • Excellent safety and health track record in programs and processes. 

  • Prior labor relations experience is a plus. 

  • Communication skills and the ability to influence others. 

  • The ability to work as a member of a team.
