For the Voith Holding General Accounting team, we are looking for:

General Accountant II  




The incumbent in this job will have responsibility for general ledger and fixed asset transactions for the Operating Units (OUs) as assigned under the Global Business Services (GBS) umbrella.  This will include not only the underlying transactions but also the documentation and reconciliation of the respective accounts.




  • Performs the General Ledger and Fixed Asset activities of the assigned OU(s) in accordance with GBS accounting guidelines in order to complete the monthly close in accordance with the defined schedule.
  • Prepares and post monthly journal entries.
  • Completes monthly account reconciliations, such as bank accounts, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts for assigned Operating Units.
  • Performs foreign currency calculations for transactions and balances.
  • Prepares semi-annual and annual group reporting packages.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of activities to provide a high level of service to internal customers.
  • Works in a collaborative manner with other members of the Accounting GBS team, management, and responsible members of the Operating Units.
  • Maintains the knowledge necessary from the respective Operating Units to successfully accept and performs the duties and tasks transferred to the GBS.
  • Follows procedures, policies and processes surrounding the general ledger and fixed asset accounting area.
  • Identifies potential process improvements and participate in the implementation of changes with the goal of promoting and providing cost efficient services to internal customers.
  • Researches, analyze and resolve a variety of accounting and ERP system issues.
  • Provides support for the annual external audit, internal audit requests and Tax Department as required.
  • Maintains clear communication lines between supported Operating Units and the general accounting team to ensure accurate processing of transactions.
  • Supports Operating Unit questions regarding general accounting as required.





  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or minimum 3 years of accounting work experience.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel (Formulas, sorting and filtering).
  • Experience with highly integrated ERP systems (SAP, Navision or J.D. Edwards is a plus).
  • Ability to organize and plan work effectively to meet goals and objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to convey business requirements and technical needs in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes.
  • Experience in multi-national organization working with multiple currencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across Divisions and Departments.
