Field Tooling Technician

Summary

 

The Tool Room Technician supports the Field Services department with tooling used for turbine and generator projects. The incumbent will maintain tooling inventory and responds to the needs of the work sites. Responsible for various functions related to the maintenance, preparation, calibration, and shipping of such tooling while providing support to the department.

Responsibilities

 

  • Adhere to all company polices as it relates to safety and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Respond to tooling and materials requests from field site management in a timely manner
  • Maintain tooling inventory, work with various brands and models of tooling
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of standard base tool sets and trailers. Ensures all trailers are in good working condition
  • Prepare tool sets, purchase consumables, calibrate (send to local vendor), repair tooling (internal or send to local vendor), load and off load tooling and equipment to mobilize (send to worksite) and demobilize jobsites (return from worksite)
  • Communicate transportation needs with logistics manager and site managers
  • Prepare tooling to send by freight companies such as FedEx on short notice
  • Organize and maintain the tool room and outside storage areas safe and clean
  • Continually improve the field tooling and sets with safer equipment, modern technology, etc.
  • Maintain catalog and maintenance manual information on pre-engineered tooling (supplied by vendor)
  • Prepare, organize, and inventory tooling shipping containers to send to job sites
  • Basic understanding of electrical 110v and 240v 3 phase
  • Successfully pass required testing to operate forklifts and crane

 

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Background in construction or tooling/equipment inventory and maintenance is preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Must be able to work unsupervised, demonstrate attention to detail, and multitask between several tasks
  • Maintains good working relationships with site supervisors, vendors and shop employees
  • Valid drivers license
