Summary

 

Voith offers an exciting opportunity as a Service Technician for the Commercial Vehicle/Bus division for the Eastern United States. 

The incumbent will play a very active role as a key part of the Regional team working closely with internal Sales and Engineering team members as well as personnel from vendors outside of Voith. The Service Technician will spend the majority of their time in front of customers solving technical issues, performing inspections and/or trainings, promoting service programs and contributing to the overall growth of the Voith. The incumbent will be challenged to perform technical diagnosis, light service and/or service/training that will often require onsite visits to a customer within the region. Someone in this role may find themselves home one day and gone the next in order to satisfy the needs of the customer and/or company. You will be a vital contact for our customers and play an important tram role in solving the end user’s needs.

A mindset of customer satisfaction, quality service and safety first are required. The incumbent will strive to create a long term, trustful relationship with customers where the technical solutions are provided to meet customer business needs.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Proactively visits customers for service mentoring and training.
  • Performs PDIs, Uploads and SW updates.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
  • Examine, Inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, reassemble, overhaul and perform general maintenance on designated Voith products.
  • Handle and organize daily service issue with customers, VSPs and OEMS including reports
  • Provide supervisory assistance during commissioning, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and troubleshooting services for Voith products at customer sites or in-house at Voith.
  • Act as the project manager of the entire job in order to secure the service timeline.
  • Provide customer support to operators in person, online, by phone and/or email.
  • Work as part of product group team to achieve/exceed service objectives.
  • Provide documented service analysis and reports on both preventative maintenance and failure situations.
  • Provide service support for direct sales team.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Service Manager.
  • Some international travel outside of North America.
  • Promote after-sales business such as upgrades and maintenance programs
  • Follow VTI Operating Manual & HSE Policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Two year college/technical school degree (Preferred, experience also considered)
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.
  • At least five years of experience working maintenance of rotating machinery preferred.
  • Mechanical power transmission experience
  • Heavy-duty vehicle transmissions experience
  • Ability to assume supervisory role of mechanical projects and direct assistance.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Good written and oral communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely relay information to customers in writing (Service Reports) and phone conversations.
  • Ability to build and maintain successful working relationships with customers.
  • 24/7 days per week availability
  • Confident decision maker
  • Instructor/trainer experience.
  • Fully fluent in English with very good communication skill. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset
  • Good knowledge of MS-Office
