Summary

The Engineer in level III provides design support for technical sales success in both new product design and in existing product re-design and meets all criteria required of the Project scope per customer specification. This position plays an important role with the customer, the local and global rail team, and supplier development. The position is considered a key role and will have a big impact on short term and long term growth targets.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customers’ technical specification for transit or rail industry
  • Define integration & implementation of products into customers’ systems & equipment
  • Provide input in design & development of equipment & systems
  • Develop technical sales proposals of company’s product. Combine existing solutions to fulfill customers’ needs
  • Commissioning of Voith products, conduct dimensioning calculation & simulations using proprietary software
  • Reporting on investigating warranty cases
  • Coordination and execution of field work. Direct customer contact and link to Voith centers of competence for each product
  • Prepare & manage Bill of Materials to ensure correct equipment delivery; interpret mechanical drawings & electrical diagrams & supports North America project management with technical issues related to design and commissioning
  • National and International travel required between 25% and 50% of the time depending on demand; countries for visits include but are not limited to Canada, Germany, Brazil, Mexico
  • Maintain customer, job and drawing files per Engineering Department Standards
  • Participate in engineering and general design review as required
  • Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have
  • Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company
  • Work on material cross references from European to North American standards. Assist supply chain with supplier audits and qualification
  • Keep supervisor advised of work status, workload, problems and progress as related to work assignments

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of engineering degree from four-year accredited college or university  
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years relevant Service or Application Engineering within the mobility Industry
  • Minimum of 2 years of concurrent experience with:
    • Preparing application drawings
    • Bill of Materials
    • Localization process (Material conversion, equipment operation)
    • CAD system (NX and Team Center) or related certificate
    • Voith Schafenberg Couplers and Voith Rail Final Drives
    • Equipment commissioning
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration teamwork skills
  • Ability to multi-task based on business need
  • Excellent time management skills
