Summary

The Sourcing Manager will develop and implement strategies for best practices regarding cost, risk and schedule balance for assigned commodities.  The Sourcing Manager will continuously improve the processes and technical solutions to meet the customer’s expectations.  The Sourcing Manager will deliver complex, custom-engineering solutions to a diverse customer base with challenging schedules and cost boundaries.  In this role the incumbent will have project management and commodity buying responsibility that may vary upon business needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages overall supply chain activities for assigned projects from OTO (offer to order) to OTC (order to completion)
  •  Creates, controls, and executes project-related optimized sourcing strategies to ensure project success and risk mitigation
  •   Reviews customer specification and provides procurement related comments as needed
  • Performs market analysis, negotiates diligently with suppliers on technical and commercial issues to ensure that material and services purchased are done so in the most effective manner at or below market levels or cost estimates for the work.
  • Coordinates and aligns purchasing activities with the global Material Group Manager
  • Reviews, controls, forecasts and reports the status of the project purchasing budget and activities as requested during project review meetings.
  • Provide customer-focused assistance to internal customers, particularly in association with key projects and requirements
  •  Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally
  •  Purchases material and services (as signed) in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Develop collaborative relationships / strategic alliances with suppliers to promote quality improvement and cost reductions
  • Support special project activities for the team as assigned by the Director of Supply Chain

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Engineering discipline
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management or Project Management in multinational corporation
  • Hydro experience is a strong asset
  • Ability to build networks and work in cross-functional environment with different suppliers
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented with the desire to solve problems
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of SAP software
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
  • Technical knowledge on Generator components

  • The job requires travel (15-20%)
