Summary
Position manages the daily activities of the procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment, and operating supplies required for production of the Voith products. The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for providing ongoing commodity market analysis and sourcing analysis with the objective of material Cost reduction. Sourcing Manager is focused on protection of Voith legal and compliance status, ensuring a globally consistent Voith approach in processes and supplier policies.
Responsibilities
- Proactively and routinely drive spend analysis activities identifying strategic sourcing opportunities within assigned categories where applicable
- Lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing strategies to attain year over year material cost reduction, material quality/delivery improvements, and working capital improvements through extending supplier payment terms and optimization of purchased parts inventory. The initiatives must ensure optimal quality, cost productivity and fulfillment by leveraging consolidated spend, standardization and latest industry practices.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking across the market and between other Voith Global / Regional units.
- Supplier selection using market research and market observation. Check and assessment of the suppliers with regards to technical and organizational production opportunity as well as their technical equipment with regards to the machinery, references and required QA guidelines.
- Conduct supplier qualification and support until series-production readiness / process reliability.
- Conduct regular supplier business reviews with strategic suppliers that include supplier performance reviews, technology roadmaps, business growth strategies and supply market changes. Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers to promote quality improvement and cost reductions
- Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprise systems throughout the procurement process.
- Perform Supplier Evaluation review on monthly / quarterly basis to ensure performance meets requirements. Develop plans to improve supplier’s performance when required and apply risk mitigating techniques on identified risks to ensure seamless material supply.
- Prepare various timely reports including cost savings (comparing results vs. established goals), cost increases, quote/project analysis and other such reports, as needed
- Calculate, measure, monitor, track and be accountable for the following critical metrics:
- YoY Savings ($)
- Spend demographics ($ and %)
- Internal vs. External
- Repeat vs. Non-Repeat
- Preferred Suppliers
- Spend under contract
- Leakage
- Single and Sole Sources
- Supplier rationalization (# of suppliers)
- Supplier Payment Days
- Lead-time/Cycle reduction
- Collaborate with global Material Group management network by providing regional information and implementing global market-actions.
- Process purchase requisitions from internal stakeholders and ensure the accuracy of information
- Manage all aspects pertaining to RFQs, RFPs and RFI
- Receive, review, and evaluate vendor proposals to make purchase recommendations and issue Purchase orders
- Track purchases, monitors supplier quality and delivery and communicates to internal stakeholder
- Manage supplier Non-Conformances and work with supplier to resolve the material quality issues swiftly.
- Review and resolve invoice discrepancies
- Maintains a current supplier database of supplier information and ensures proper documentation
- Adhere to the VOITH Purchasing Guidelines as well as the Standard Operating Procedures related to purchasing activities. Follow Voith standards and guidelines for establishing new suppliers and insure they are qualified commercially, product quality and financially to support Voith business needs
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent combined education and experience, 5-7 years working experience in Heavy Industry, Rail business or equivalent industry
- Good knowledge of SCM category management including cost structure, risk mitigation, market analysis and selecting the right source strategy etc. Understands integrated supply chain and logistic concepts
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following spend categories: Fabrication, Machining, Castings & Forgings, Bearings, Electrical & Automation, Gearboxes, Plant Utilities
- Technical background or experience with strong mechanical aptitude including Solid understanding and ability to read technical specifications, drawings and production schedules
- Good knowledge and understanding of legal, financial and commercial terms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to thoroughly analyze, interpret data / information to make sound informed decisions
- This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot as well as develop alternative solutions to problems.
- Ability to apply statistical methods to improve business processes
- Excellent collaboration skills required. Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and a positive communication style.
- Strong Knowledge of ERP systems (Navision / SAP preferred) and reporting tools (PowerBI, Qlik Sense).
- Proficient on Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas).
