Summary: The Senior Business Development Expert plays a strategic role in shaping market and product direction in the passenger rail sector. This individual combines deep industry knowledge with strong commercial acumen to identify growth opportunities, drive competitive strategies, and foster long-term customer relationships and success. With a focus on both Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket Business (AMB), the role is responsible for collecting actionable market intelligence, anticipating substitution risks, and guiding regional and global business development initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth market and competitor analysis, identifying new products, business models, and value propositions (also considering market input from Sales & KAM).
  • Competitor analysis and strategic ideas in regards of business models and product needs (USP).
  • Monitor and interpret legal and technical specifications issued by sub-regional authorities.
  • Recognize substitution risks and emerging trends, proposing strategic countermeasures.
  • Monitor technical and commercial trends and support product & commercial management.
  • Identify localization needs in the sub region
  • Maintain and grow key customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction through surveys, feedback loops, and action plans.
  • Provide market intelligence to support Sales, Key Account Management (KAM), and Product Management teams.
  • Drive alignment between regional commercial needs and global product strategies.
  • Networking in regional associations (influence standards).
  • Analyze Salesforce and other CRM data in the targeted market.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to read and interpret scientific/technical drawings and documentation, commercial terms and conditions, and customer specifications.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain successful customer relations as well as communicate and work effectively with other company personnel and departments.
  • Good organizational skills; ability to maintain lists of active repair projects with the goal of meeting delivery requirements.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite software.

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year college degree and/or equivalent experience

 

Physical Requirements:
