Summary –

Support organization in ensuring our products meet/exceed the quality standards and specifications. Identify issues in manufacturing production processes (in-house and outsourced) to document and correct root causes to prevent reoccurrence. Recommend and implement corrective measures to prevent future nonconformances. Create and maintain systems for documentation and storage of product quality records. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to integrate process improvement methodology into component manufacturing processes. Analyze manufacturing data to assess trends, predict future outcomes, and monitor improvement.

 

Responsibilities –

 

  • Interpret technical drawings including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T symbols, etc.
  • Interpret customer specification requirements in relation to acceptance of product and/or process characteristics.
  • Define/Create/Maintain/Review inspection record sheets for all inspection methods used at VHY.
  • Review inspection methods and records to verify that they are being performed in accordance with VHY process procedures.
  • Review updates in national/international inspection specifications and verify VHY written process procedures are incompliance with the update(s). When changes are required recommend/implement revisions to the procedures to comply with updates.
  • Review updates in VH Group inspection standards for compliance with VHY customer specification requirements. When changes are noted that effect VHY procedures work with the VHZ team to either mitigate the change and/or recommend/implement revisions to the VHY procedures.
  • Support the QC function to document discrepancies in SAP notifications, ensure discrepancies are properly documented,  completed in a timely manner and evidence of successful completion of the disposition into SAP.
  • Review/audit manufacturing component progress and operation/PRS status and out-of-sequence work.
  • Review/Audit/Perform component status for release for shipment, work with QA/QC and manufacturing management for proper collection of manufacturing records (laser, general dimensional inspection, NDE, paint/coating testing, hydrostatic/leak testing, … Etc.) and nonconformance’s.
  • Train/support personnel on the SAP notification process and Quality processes.
  • Analyze manufacturing data to assess trends, predict future outcomes, and monitor improvement.
  • Perform laser inspection and provide technical support for use, inspection procedures and interpretation of results and training of personnel.
  • Customer Witness liaison between (Mfg/PQL/Customer) for VHY.
  • Key contact for outsourced manufacturing component process for quality. Responsible to ensure incoming and outgoing component inspection records.
  • Initiates continuous improvement activities and actions to improve departmental processes and workflow.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of and maintaining departmental MRO consumables and supplies.
  • Backup  for the timekeeping, direct/rated hours, indirect time and resolving all labor transactions that do not process, reconciling zero balance and timely key closure.
  • Schedule predictive and preventive maintenance activities and equipment calibration for quality equipment.
  • Develop, document, implement the transition from current state inspection documentation in to full e-document system(s) including the transition to AI based review of inspection results.
  • Responsible for the oversight of the VHY Calibration Program and procedures.
  • Support NDE LIII personnel with development of NDE/Inspection equipment new process implementation, documentation of new improved inspection processes and capital requests for QA/QC related projects.
  • Support/audit/train QC inspectors mapping/indication matrix processes for documentation of as-found condition of rehab components and general mapping of NDE/Inspection results, this includes means and methods of documentation, streamlining the documentation and storage processes.
  • Support supplier QA for supplier witness inspection and auditing.
  • Participate in component design reviews.
  • Recommend component changes to improve manufacturability and conformance to standards.
  • Write new and edit existing operational procedures.
  • Responsible to manage the NDT Certification Matrix and publish to SharePoint.
  • Conduct at regular intervals quality observation tours and present findings.
  • Conduct at regular intervals safety observation tours and present findings.
  • Participate as an auditor internal ISO Audit process.
  • Backup support for project quality personnel.

 

Qualifications –

 

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field or related area
  • NDE Level II Qualification or Technical degree preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good CAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills capable of training inspector personnel in the use of these tools.
  • General knowledge of dimensional inspection tools and methods.
  • General knowledge of CAD/CAM machining program development.
  • General knowledge of database storage of information.

 

Physical Demands -

 

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of material. Able to stand for long periods and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
