Summary

The Mechanical Designer provides design efforts from inception through production both in the new product design and in existing product re-design and meets all criteria required of the Project scope per contract with the customer. The Mechanical Designer uses existing procedures to solve complex problems.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design of rotating equipment drive trains, including drawings, bill of material and manuals.
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD (Siemens NX).
  • Create bill of material (Microsoft Navision / SAP).
  • Select appropriate materials based on their properties, cost and availability.
  • Ensure product compliance with specifications and legal requirements.
  • Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
  • Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to the company.
  • Identify and resolve design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including project managers, manufacturing, sales, purchasing and service.
  • Coordinate engineering and design reviews as required.
  • Prepare proposal documentation.
  • Coordinate machine overhauls and repairs together with workshop personnel, planning, sales and purchasing.

 

Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of relevant design engineering experience. Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software. Siemens NX is a plus
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration teamwork skills
  • Ability to multi-task based on business need
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
