Head of Project Quality

Summary – Join Voith Hydro, a global leader in renewable energy solutions, and take ownership of quality assurance across complex hydroelectric projects worldwide. As Regional Project Quality Manager, you will ensure that every project—from turbines to generators—meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and sustainability. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on project quality management, driving excellence from design through commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Review customers’ specifications and legal/statutory requirements, compare with Voith Hydro standards, and ensure proper requirements management and compliance in alignment with EQM.
- Review and issue project-specific Quality Plans and documentation (e.g., Inspection & Test Plans, QS, MGS).
- Support development of project-specific and site-specific Quality Strategies and schedules, ensuring quality activities are integrated and consistent with project goals.
- Support, facilitate, and review project-specific and site-specific Design & Process FMEAs, verification and validation reports, ensuring proper method application, risk analysis, and implementation of actions.
- Participate in key project-related meetings (e.g., design reviews) providing quality-related input.
- Conduct process audits and verifications across Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Construction & Commissioning, ensuring quality is embedded in all processes.
- Ensure through process audits & verifications within VH Sites and based on site-specific data analysis that quality is being incorporated in processes.
- Drive and support continuous improvement activities within VH Sites based on project-specific data analysis.
- Capture lessons learned (positive and negative) and implement management system changes as necessary.
- Perform Technical Committee meetings prior to component release for shipping.
- Review and release the Project-specific and Site-specific Quality Data Book.
- Monitor the Project Quality Budget and inform the Project Manager and Project Quality Manager on compliance and deviations.
- Coordinate internal and external inspection personnel according to ITPs, including NDT, Electrical, and Dimensional checks.
- Manage inspections in IT systems and support calibration and measurement systems management at site.
- Ensure quality in turbine and generator fabrication, overseeing diverse manufacturing processes and project deliverables.
Qualifications –
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project quality management, ideally in renewable energy or heavy industry.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards, project quality planning, and inspection coordination.
- Proven leadership experience in a global project environment.
- Excellent communication and intercultural skills; fluent in English (additional languages a plus).
- Willingness to travel internationally.

They are often required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employees are required to talk and hear in an industrial setting (noise level can be high at times) and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
