Head of Engineering Services

Summary –   This senior engineering leadership position oversees all engineering service functions supporting project execution across North America, providing centralized expertise to all projects. The incumbent provides direct management and oversight to managers responsible for concurrent engineering, auxiliary systems and automation, documentation, and drafting. The role ensures that engineering services are delivered safely, reliably, on time, and in compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements. The incumbent drives engineering excellence, fosters continuous improvement, and ensures effective integration across design engineering, procurement, manufacturing, project management, and field operations. The mission is to achieve total customer satisfaction through highquality and consistent engineering deliverables throughout the product and project lifecycle. 

Responsibilities –  

  • Manage multiple engineering service functions through their respective managers, ensuring coordinated and effective support across all phases of project execution. 

  • Maintain an engineering services organization capable of delivering safe, reliable, and highquality outputs. 

  • Ensure engineering service deliverables meet scope, quality, and scheduling commitments. 

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, design guidelines, processes, and technical governance across all supporting functions. 

  • Lead quality and risk management processes (FMEA, RCA, CAR), while ensuring lessons learned are captured, implemented, and continuously improve engineering service performance. 

  • Provide engineering support to sourcing, manufacturing, and field operations to ensure consistent quality throughout the product lifecycle. 

  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to support OTO and OTC activities, including schedules, work packages, and hour estimates. 

  • Serve as an internal and external representative for engineering services, effectively communicating complex technical issues. 

  • Support the training and development of engineering staff to sustain worldclass technical capability. 

 

 

Qualifications –  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred. 

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in hydro or energy-related industries. 

  • At least 10 years in engineering leadership roles with responsibility over multidisciplinary teams, including direct management of managers. 

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. 

  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to engineering excellence, and ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment.

  • The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch. 

  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus. 

  • The employee may be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment. 

  • The job may require travel.
