SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting Voith Turbo USA quality systems processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role manages the Customer Complaint Process applying the PDCA approach, Leads Customer First Article Inspection (FAI) activities, supports shop floor problem-solving, Manage and Track KPIs and ensures effective execution of the Quality Management System (QMS). The Quality Engineer collaborates with Production Engineering, Sales, Procurement, the Design Authority in Germany and the Czech Republic, as well as international suppliers across Asia and Europe. This position provides cross-functional quality leadership, drives root cause analysis and corrective actions, manages Cost of Quality, participates in the Material Review Board (MRB), performs internal and supplier process audits, and conducts technical visits to customers and suppliers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead and manage the Customer Complaint Process, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer communication.

- Perform and oversee Customer First Article Inspection (FAI) in accordance with drawings, regulatory and statutory items, and customer specific requirements.

- Conduct technical visits to customer facilities to support quality assessments and complaint investigations.

- Support shop floor problem solving, containment, and implementation of corrective actions. Provide quality training for shop floor team.

- Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) meetings and disposition nonconforming material.

- Support supplier development activities, including risk assessment, corrective action follow-up.

- Conduct supplier process audits at local and international facilities.

- Participate in cross-functional meetings with Production Engineering, Sales, Procurement, and Design Authority teams.

- Provide quality guidance, coaching, and leadership to cross-functional teams.

- Manage and track the Cost of Quality (CoQ) and identify major cost drivers.

- Prepare quality reports, KPIs, and dashboards for internal/external meetings.

- Support QMS compliance, continuous improvement, and Management Review preparations.

- Conduct internal process audits within VTI and monitor corrective action effectiveness.

- Attend supplier meetings in Asia and Europe and perform technical travels for training and problem-solving.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience with APQP/CONTROL PLAN, PPAP, FAI, FMEA, MSA, FMEA, SPC
  • Ability to travel local and internationally as required for workshop, problem solving and training.

 

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Internal Auditor ISO 9001:2015
  • VDA 6.3 Auditor is preferred
  • Six sigma green or black belt is preferred
