Summary: The Commercial Manager is responsible for the management, review, preparation, and negotiation of all contracts and other contract related documents for customers and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing, editing, and presenting contract related documents to both internal and external stakeholders. Must excel at providing organizational and strategic value and support at all levels. Contract management includes analysis and research of project documents and communication with all relevant team members and customer contacts. Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, research, and customer service skills are a must to be successful in this position. The role will be under the direction of the Commercial Management lead, and part of the Finance group within the Voith US Turbo division.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews all Sales contracts.  Identifies and assesses risks during the bid stage prior to a binding offer and advises the organization such that suitable actions can be implemented to minimize the risks identified.

  • Makes sure that all contractual conditions of agreements are fully understood, analyzed and assessed.

  • Works closely with internal shareholders, including Leadership, Finance, Sales, Legal, and Administration.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of organizational Risk Management directives  based on business strategy, contract knowledge and liaison with internal counsel.

  • Development and implementation of internal risk management best practices.

  • Trains the sales and support teams on contractual risks and mitigation strategies.

  • Participates in departmental and project team meetings.

  • Assists with the preparation and/or review of reports to management.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/BA in business administration, finance or similar field minimum; MS/MA is a plus

  • 2+ years or more relevant or related experience required.

  • Knowledge of Oil/ Gas Industry, Rail, Commercial Vehicles, and Marine sectors is a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
