SUMMARY: The primary role of the Application Engineer is to provide application engineering support for the North American Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to ensure the proper technical application of our commercial vehicle products. In addition, this position will be required to create, document and deliver technical information to other departments within the team as well as to the headquarters for Voith Turbo in Germany.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide application engineering point of contact support for the OEM’s mechanical and electrical engineering departments for Voith Electric Drive and DIWA Automatic Transmission products.
- Develop and manage series production bill of materials for Voith Electric Drive and DIWA Automatic Transmission products.
- Perform first article inspections for new products and new applications.
- Generate vehicle performance simulations for Voith Electric Drive projects according to customer and OEM specifications.
- Draft and Release Application Engineering Bulletins.
- Coordinate and perform product testing, data acquisition and data analysis for the purpose of generating technical reports.
- Develop technical solutions for commercial vehicle products along with the engineering team from Germany focusing on Voith Electric Drive and DIWA Automatic Transmission products.
- Support the Director of Engineering with information and analysis for sales and technical developments of the commercial vehicle product line.
- Support Complaint Management team for in-house and field complaints.
- Complete special projects as specified by the Director of Engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum requirements include a four-year degree in an engineering curriculum, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to write and orally present technical specifications, are essential for successful performance.
- The candidate must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
- This position will require intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft software packages. CAD and solid modeling experience is desired, but not required.
- Knowledge of both mechanical and electrical fundamentals is preferred.
- Domestic and foreign travel required, approx 1-2 weeks per month.
