2nd shift Fabrication supervisor  
York, PA

 

Summary –

Supervises/manages the daily activities associated with the manufacturing Preparation, Fabrication and Welding departments. In support of production control product scheduling, the Fabrication Supervisor assigns hourly personnel, establishes individual goals, monitors performance, schedules and conducts department developmental training activities.

 

Responsibilities –

  • Prior to shift start review and coordinate with previous shift departmental activities to fulfill Production Control needs. Adjust assignments as required to shift individual shift requirements.
  • Before issuing the assignment slips or routing work packet the supervisor briefly reviews: routing instructions, drawings, programs, check sheets and ER sheets
  • Conduct daily SFM meeting at start of shift
  • Maintain timekeeping, vacation, call-ins, EA, etc.
    • Responsible for entering into ADP: vacation, EA, ABSL, etc.
    • Monitor call-in phones for attendance
  • Conduct yearly and hourly performance appraisal of hourly personal.
  • Administrative functions: email, Fast Track, SAP, etc.
  • Throughout shift maintain and update daily Fabrication update document. Email update prior to reviewing with the following shift.
  • Generate safety incident reports per the incident investigation procedural guidelines for direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain (revision control) applicable work instructions: weld procedures, build instructions, etc.
  • Practice time management with sufficient time devoted to making follow-up visits to your assigned report at intervals determined adequate based on the product complexity.
  • Train new department employees by teaming them up with seasoned employees.
  • Maintain tooling, fixturing inventory and applicable records.
  • Enforce company and CBA policies and safety procedures and administer discipline as required.
  • Maintain applicable skill level for full implementation of department productivity and utilization goals. These included, but not limited to, welder qualifications, forklift, etc.
  • Plan and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill Production Control needs at the end of each shift, fill out assignment slips for following shift.

Qualifications –

  • 5+ years in manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment
  • Experience managing a team of employees
  • Able to think outside of the status-quo and try new ideas

  • The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • The employee may be required to lift objects up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and perform other tasks related to an industrial environment.
  • The job may require travel.
