Summary:

The primary objective of this role is to facilitate and coordinate shop floor employee training related to industry principles. The individual will work independently at the location, driving training and employee growth throughout the local facility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Training: Lead training sessions for shop floor employees to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality performance based on standardized work principles. Training may also include sessions for customers on paper machine rolls.
  • Develop Training Materials: Create and maintain structured training content, including training plans, assessments, job breakdowns, and surveys. Ensure materials support long-term employee development and learning.
  • Create Work Instructions: Develop clear, standardized work instructions and job-specific breakdowns. Ensure alignment with safety standards, including JSA and PPE requirements.
  • Partner Across Departments: Collaborate with HSE, supervisors, leads, and quality to sustain training effectiveness. Help identify and address skill gaps using tools like skill matrices and LMS tracking. Support ongoing evaluation and improvement of training programs.
  • Promote Engagement: Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to reinforce training efforts and support employee development. Build positive working relationships and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support DRIVE/LMS Training Frameworks: Champion the DRIVE/LMS systems and ensure training aligns with broader operating principles. Continuously assess and adjust content and delivery to enhance effectiveness.
  • Cross-Site Collaboration: May travel occasionally to other facilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous manufacturing experience, preferably in the paper industry
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in training, instructional design preferred
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Skilled in leveraging technology to enhance training efficiency, including Microsoft Office, Learning Management systems (LMS), and emerging tools like AI to streamline content creation, tracking and reporting
  • Proficient in navigating and utilizing learning management systems to support training delivery and tracking
