Summary

In this position, the Tool and Die Technician will be responsible for production tooling and die parts cleaning, inspection, and building. Will be responsible for maintaining an organized die shop and keeping a stocked inventory of built die packs and spin finish containers for upcoming production. Will foster a cooperative relationship with team leaders, group leaders, and operators in the production department.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Clean, inspect, assess, store, maintain inventory, and assemble die parts as required in advance to produce quality monofilaments.
  • Follow work instructions to prepare and maintain sufficient supply of spin finish
  • Conduct inspections of plant safety equipment (fire extinguishers, eye wash, etc.) and complete documentation required for these inspections. 
  • Conducts and records month-end inventory for the Extrusion Dept.  
  • Use the jig hoist(s) in the die room to safely and efficiently move heavy die housings

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent math skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Previous tool and die experience helpful, but not required
  • English language required
  • Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a team environment

 

Physical Demands

Employees in this position are regularly required to stand, sit, walk, and use their hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. They are required to bend, squat, climb ladders, and reach above their shoulders. Employees must be able to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing, and must be physically capable of lifting 60 pounds and pushing or pulling carts weighing up to 1500 pounds. Work activities involve being around moving machinery and exposure to changes in temperature and humidity. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in work area.
