Job summary

The Site Scheduler is responsible to create and maintain the site erection schedule of Snowy electrical and mechanical scope Turbine, Generators, Hydraulic Steels Structures, Balance of Plant - Electrical and Balance of Plant Mechanical). They provide a clear status of all related interfaces and activities to build, commission and hand-over the hydro power plant as per schedule and contract requirements. They identify and notify deviations and proposes mitigations.

 

The Site Scheduler will be located initially in Cooma and as soon as site operation start to initiate its activities at site, they will be required to be full time located at site. They will be an onshore project team member reporting to Local Project Director who will be based in Cooma and later reporting to General Site Manager when located at site.

Site Manager / Site Production Manager and Master Scheduler

 

Key Responsibilities

During the field preparation phase (off-site)

  • Build/create/maintain a detailed Field Service Baseline Schedule in Primavera for the complete E&M site install scope and activities, to meet agreed internal and external / contractual milestones
  • You support the team with deriving the site work related cost to complete by resource and cost loading of the Field Service schedule
  • Overall coordination of Field Schedule with all parties involved; drive upstream functions to provide deliverables as per the site requirements

 

During the site installation phase (on-site)

  • Maintain the Field Service Schedule updated and ensure Primavera Field Service Schedule is always synchronized with the Master Time Schedule, the site management software and actual work progress at site.
  • Monitor in coordination with the SPM and other supervisors the progress of site execution
  • Close follow up to the interface milestones of customer, civil works, deliveries and/or other interfaces related to the site project execution
  • Development of preventive actions and different scenarios / alternatives to reduce impacts to the critical path.
  • Analysis and suggestions of acceleration actions as preventive as well as corrective actions to prevent delays in the key milestones of installation, commissioning and units operations including start and end dates.
  • Provide transparency and visibility on critical path and interfaces risks to other parties
  • Incorporate updates of Subcontractors and assess their progress reports against plan
  • Provide overview of upcoming activities and milestones and assist the site team to perform rolling look- ahead planning with the Site Production Manager, follow up on actual physical progress against plan
  • Identify deviations from plan and notify to the site production manager / site manager / master scheduler and propose mitigations or recovery plans
  • Support a schedule focus / mindset together with the site manager / site production manager
  • Act as a partner to Field Supervisors and Site Production Manager

 

Education:

  • Engineering degree (Civil or Mechanical)
  • Project Management degree (MBA, P. Eng. or similar)

 

Skills

  • HSE and Quality Mindset
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior level scheduling/planning position in large Hydro Power projects or in similar industries / construction projects
  • Sound technical and operational knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning
  • Sound contractual knowledge
  • Being customer and people oriented, accountable and solution driven.
  • Team player with strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial

 

Project Information:

Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped-hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market. Voith is the awarded Sub Contractor. The above role is in connection to this project.
