Job summary

The Site Production Manager is responsible for the safe and smooth erection of the entire electrical and mechanical scope (Turbines, Generators, Hydraulic Steel Structures, BoPe and BoPm) of the Snowy project.

They drive the detailed look ahead planning of the erection activities using visual management, ensures that bottlenecks are discovered proactively and develops mitigation measures to ensure contract milestones are met within time and budget. He proactively coordinates the erection activities with internal and external parties. They lead the site production team, subcontractors and workforce in a mega construction project and provides clear orientation based on transparent project goals. The Site Production Manager is located at construction site reporting to the General Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assure everyone commits to our HSE culture
  • Overall leadership of the site production team to install the electrical and mechanical scope (Turbines, Generators, Hydraulic Steel Structures, BoPe and BoPm)
  • Fulfil contract schedule to achieve the customer satisfaction and to respect the best interests of the company
  • Establish and drive rigorous site look ahead planning, based on contract schedule and detailed technical installation sequence, using visual management and performance KPIs
  • Ensure that bottlenecks are discovered proactively and develop mitigation measures to ensure internal and external milestones are met
  • Ensure required resources are available in time
  • Report on physical progress, internally document the site status
  • Establish and maintain close relationship and regular communication with subcontractors, workforce, site services representatives and stakeholders;
  • Escalate critical issues to the General Site Manager

 

Education:

  • Engineering degree (Civil or Mechanical)

 

Skills

  • HSE and Quality Mindset
  • Previous demonstrated experience in a Senior/Management level position, minimum of 10 years of experience in site production management or planning roles in large Hydro Power projects or in similar industries.
  • Sound technical and operational knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning,
  • Excellent production management skills and look-ahead planning mentality
  • Good understanding of technical sequence, durations, resource management, performance criteria
  • Being customer and people oriented, accountable and solution driven.
  • Team player with strong leadership of workforce and subcontractors
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial

 

Project Information:

Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped-hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market. Voith is the awarded Sub Contractor. The above role is in connection to this project.
