Engineering Quality Engineer
About the Role
Join Voith Hydro, a Regional engineer in renewable energy solutions, and take responsibility for engineering quality excellence across all hydroelectric projects worldwide. As Global Engineering Quality Engineer, you will ensure that engineering processes, designs, and deliverables meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and sustainability. This role combines strategic leadership with technical depth, driving quality from concept through execution for turbines, generators, and related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of technical risk management processes, with a primary focus on FMEA (DFMEA, SFMEA PFMEA), ensuring these are applied consistently across all project phases: proposal, manufacturing, and execution.
- Facilitate and moderate FMEA sessions with cross-functional teams at every stage of the value chain, leveraging digital collaboration platforms to systematically identify, assess, and mitigate potential failure modes in products, processes, and systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Proposal teams to integrate risk management and FMEA results into design, validation, production, and offer processes, utilizing digital solutions for seamless data sharing and reporting.
- Train and coach teams across all functions (including proposal, engineering, manufacturing, and project management) in FMEA methodology, root cause analysis, risk prioritization, and preventive action planning, with a focus on digital tool utilization.
- Act as the primary interface for technical risk management topics with authorities, certification bodies, and customers, ensuring alignment from proposal through execution and leveraging digital documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on lessons learned from FMEA, field feedback, and quality data analysis, ensuring feedback loops across all project stages and utilizing digital knowledge management systems.
- Ensure that technical safety, regulatory, and normative requirements (e.g., CE, ISO 9001) are addressed through systematic risk management and FMEA processes at every step, supported by digital compliance tracking.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering; advanced training or certification in FMEA, risk management, or quality (e.g., CQE, Six Sigma) is highly desirable.
- 7-10 years of experience in engineering quality or technical risk management roles, ideally in a regulated or project-driven environment.
- Proven expertise in leading FMEA activities (DFMEA, SFMEA, PFMEA), technical risk assessments, and implementation of risk mitigation strategies across the value chain.
- Experience with digital risk management tools (e.g., APIS IQ-FMEA, Siemens Teamcenter Quality, PTC Windchill Quality Solutions, or similar platforms), data analytics, and digital collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, risk management frameworks, root cause analysis, and quality planning.
- Excellent facilitation, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- Workable in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
