Summary –

The responsibility of the Strategic Account Manager is to develop and execute a business plan to maintain / grow paper machine fabrics, rolls, spare parts and service business in a strategic account or group of accounts (mills).  The primary responsibility of this position is to understand customer goals and needs and to coordinate Voith’s response to those needs.  This position works closely with the key decision makers in each account and with various functions internal to Voith.  This is a hybrid position spanning two divisions of Voith Paper – Fabric & Roll Systems and Parts & Services.

 

Responsibilities –

  • Build relationships with customers and decision makers to develop and encourage sales growth.
  • Develop and maintain account plans aligned with regional strategy.
  • Manage account inventories, claims and complaints, accounts receivable, and travel & entertainment expenses.
  • Communicate regularly with sales manager and team members to ensure proper account coverage, service activities and outage support – both planned and unplanned.
  • Collaborate with Voith customer service, manufacturing, applications, and administrative support to accomplish objectives.
  • Maintain sales forecasting and manage growth opportunities for the future. 
  • Maintain the customer relationship using various software (SalesForce, Global Vision, etc). 
  • Make sales and service calls to customer mills to promote sales.  Perform routine inspections and technical service functions. Respond to unscheduled outages and specific needs as they arise. 
  • Coordinate / assist in installations.  Keep the appropriate database updated for inventory management. 
  • Promote value-added products and technical services and present any necessary data analysis or reports for customer understanding and acceptance.

 

Qualifications –

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Secondary education preferred but not required with relevant work experience.
  • Experience in technical / industrial sales or experience in the paper industry preferred.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, primarily by car.  Overnight hotel stays required at times.
  • Excellent communication skills required, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical thinking and familiarity with standard Microsoft software programs required.

 

Physical Demands –

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  Standard Personal Protective Equipment is required frequently including ear plugs, hard-hat, safety glasses and safety-toed shoes.
