SUMMARY:
The Field Service Expert II Paper Machine performs mechanical services for different Paper Machine types. On-site and remote support for customers, attending scheduled maintenance shutdowns and on-demand services. Execute installations and rebuilds based on Voith guidelines. Conduct overall inspection to identify and state equipment conditions and applicable upgrades. Keep accurate records regarding job execution and communicate clearly through technical reports, including parts recommendation and further necessary actions. Creates a long-term trustful relationship with customers where the technical solutions are provided to meet customer business needs. Ensure excellent service execution focused on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Work independently and overcome technical service issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist customers in the Pulp and Paper industry by providing mechanical field services on existing and newly installed equipment.
- Execute field support focused on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Plan work execution including resources and tools.
- Prepare work execution by technical drawings and necessary parts and/or delivered materials.
- Supervise third part installation work ensuring quality assembly.
- Execute welcome and exit meetings with the customer.
- Generate technical reports with the best and clear information, photos and including detail information about parts recommended.
- Work in collaboration with engineering companies, contractors as well as different Voith departments involved in the project execution.
- Support customer’s troubleshooting.
- Conduct audits at customer sites to record and evaluate equipment and identify maintenance improvement opportunities.
- Follow up action list and support final acceptance test by the customer.
- Support estimating time and resources for service quotations.
- Train customer staff in methods to maintain and repair the equipment.
- Conduct or participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, and / or customers
- Complete time and expense reports.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Paper Technology, with a minimum of (5) years of service or maintenance experience in pulp and paper mills.
- Ability to travel up to 60% to customer sites, occasional international travel will be required (mainly Canada and Mexico).
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Experience with paper machine finishing equipment, such as winders and reels, is desirable for this role.
- Strong technical drawing and schematics interpretation.
- Remote support by video tools.
- Proficient in Windows based programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams.
- Strong communication skills, verbal, and written.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in designated areas.
