Summary:
The Field Service Expert Automation provides DCS Controls Service to our Voith Pulp and Paper customers in North America on existing and newly installed Voith equipment. Work is mainly at customer site but can also be executed remotely. Main job responsibilities are to ensure that the customer’s automation equipment is performing safely, reliable, and efficiently.
THIS POSITION PAYS $40.00 - $53.00 PER HOUR BASED ON EXPERIENCE
CANDIDATES FOR THIS POSITION NEED TO BE LOCATED NEAR A MAJOR AIRPORT
Responsibilities:
- Assist our customers in the Pulp and Paper industry by providing automation services on existing and newly installed equipment.
- Commissioning, check-out, troubleshooting, and emergency service for the Voith automation systems.
- Provide repair and optimization service.
- Fix system faults on new or modified loops and operator interface screens supplied by Voith
- Perform small system upgrades as required.
- Programing of control loops and displays using Siemens and Rockwell Automation coding language.
- Keep accurate records regarding job progress, delays, problems, deliveries, scope changes.
- Report back on the completed work outlining the activities carried out, changes made, faults found during service, and any future recommendations for improving the service work.
- Train customer staff in methods to maintain and repair the equipment.
- Conduct audits at customer sites to record and analyze process improvement opportunities.
- Promote Voith spare parts and services when in mills.
- Review and discuss required spare parts for customer inventory
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering and a minimum of five (5) years of process control experience in the paper machinery industry
- Proficient with onsite PLC programming changes on Siemens and/or Rockwell systems
- Basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to travel up to 60% to customer sites, occasional international travel will be required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient in Windows-based programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Communication skills, verbal, and written.
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Paper industry experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in designated areas.
