Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for start-up, commissioning, and optimization of Voith supplied paper machines and rebuilds.. The Process Engineer will work with commissioning engineers on process activities..
In this position you will review and audit existing paper machine systems like headboxes, forming, pressing etc for s for capacity, quality or yield bottlenecks. Good knowledge about the design, operation and maintenance of paper machine equipment is required in this position.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshooting and optimization of paper machine equipment or rebuilds.
- Commissioning, start-up, and optimization of paper machines and rebuilds.
- Develop and maintain start-up and commissioning checklists for your assigned projects.
- Determine how to improve operations and/or to resolve problems by utilizing Voith's papermaking machinery.
- Support and promote Voith parts and repair service for paper machines and winders equipment.
- Make technical presentations and provide technical training to customers.
- Provide engineering support; troubleshoot; lead projects and technological discussions.
- Provide a safe work environment in the field, to heighten safety awareness among all personnel.
- Take responsibility for documentation of all appropriate communication, customer and employee interaction and correspondence.
- Occasional supervision of contractors or customer millwrights
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in the papermaking industry as stock preparation superintendent, stock preparation process engineer or closely related occupation
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
- Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
- Ability to make things happen and get results.
- Good reporting skills
- Ability to travel up to 60% to customer sites, occasional international travel will be required (mainly Canada and Mexico).
- Strong mechanical and process aptitude.
- Strong technical drawing and P&ID interpretation.
- Remote support by video and phone tools.
- Proficient in Windows based programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Basic SAP skills to review drawings and part information (training on SAP will be provided)
Physical Requirements:
Employees in this position are regularly required to walk, stand, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. They are occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear and regularly required to lift 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in designated areas.
