Summary :

The Director of Tissue Cylinder Services reports to the Vice President of Operations FRS NA and is the leader of the operational elements for the business segment.  This leader works closely with the commercial team to secure orders and sales to support the tissue, cylinder services sector in Voith Paper FRS NA. Applications expertise and customer interface skills are a key element to the performance of this role. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a group of individuals and equipment that are capable of establishing products and services to satisfy customer requirements while meeting corporate objectives for profitability and continued growth in the Tissue cylinder services business segments.

 

Responsibilities :

 

  • Provide a safe work environment by being the driving force to heighten safety awareness amongst all Field Service employees.
  • Work closely with the Safety Coordinator to ensure that all Field Service employees are current on safety training schedules.
  • Attend company safety meetings when available or designate a replacement as required.
  • Provide and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure that quality standards are monitored and met.
  • Provide channels to address sub quality performance issues.  Identify problem areas through documented inspections and supply solutions to assure quality adherence.
  • Personally spot check work to assure the highest quality standards are being met and continually challenged to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of project managers and technician employees within the group.
  • Maintain a workforce level that is in balance with current and predicted business levels.
  • Maintain and enforce that all employees conduct themselves and their appearance is a reflection of Voith’s highest standards.
  • Provide personal assistance to sales and engineering efforts when appropriate.
  • Address any personnel actions that would be cause for disciplinary action or dismissal, following proper protocol HR to record any actions required.
  • Fully capable of running equipment and support functions in the field.
  • Report and log any injuries to any Field Service personnel.
  • Approve technician time and expenses.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and materials inventory.
  • Support sales and customer’s needs to provide to provide a competitive proposal for Voith services.
  • Develop a plan to assure that grinding and metalizing services and equipment are maintained at profitable levels.
  • Work with personnel understand the work procedures and are properly trained.
  • Develop alternative resources to support larger projects with qualified Voith personnel or sub-contractors.
  • See that all work activities at mill sites are documented for customer reports along with accurate consumables reporting.
  • Determine which diagnostics services should be maintained and which services should be expanded.
  • Develop a plan to assure that diagnostics services are maintained at profitable levels.
  • Develop and nurture the concept that diagnostic services are an integral part of the overall marketing strategy and that all diagnostic personnel understand, are trained and support this concept.
  • Develop alternative resources within the group to assure that all diagnostics services are backed up by multiple personnel who are trained and proficient.
  •  Manage costs to assure that profit levels meet or exceed company objectives.
  • Prepare quotes, reports and all other correspondence to assure quality and completeness.
  • Utilize quote log to identify reasons for won – lost ratios in conjunction with sales personnel.
  • Provide budgets and reports as directed by VP Operations.
  • Ensure that all final invoicing is completed in an efficient manner and is in compliance with company invoicing procedures.

 

 

Qualifications :

 

  • Proficient in use of computers utilizing Windows based programs as well as the BI/Pyramid and Voith’s ERP system.
  • Strong applications background in the Tissue sector in metallization, grinding, and diagnostics, including the expertise to conduct and execute sales and applications proposals with the customer on a frequent basis.  Deep applications support is provided via Voith Global Tissue Global Product Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of overall tissue pulp & paper operations and related equipment plus a specific, related area of expertise. 
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Effective use of professional sales techniques.
  • Able to travel on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to operate independent of daily direction i.e. sees what needs to be done and does it.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and demands, makes things happen gets results.
  • Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills.

 

Travel :

 

  • National and International travel required. Primary travel would include USA, Canada and Mexico
