Cloud DevOps Engineer  



The Cloud DevOps Engineer will design and implement the container orchestration technology strategy at the foundation of our industrial IoT platform. The ideal candidate will have experience building, scaling, and monitoring highly available applications in the cloud. Working remotely or based in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, this role is a full-time opportunity.



  • Responsible for cloud operations
  • Develop and establish DevOps best practices
  • Work to integrate the flow of information and communication from end-user support into development
  • Continuously work to improve our DevOps capabilities and enable other teams to leverage them
  • Foster innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing DevOps practices for the platform
  • Align with other scrum teams regarding deployment requirements in the cloud
  • Implement and refine outage procedures for continuous cloud application operations
  • Guide and mentor developers on implementing DevOps: Continuous Integration, delivery, and deployment
  • Promote ‘everything as code’ within the organization
  • Work effectively with other local and global development teams
  • Collaboration within agile development, IT security and IT infrastructure teams to build-up, test and rollout stable and secure IIoT applications
  • Project-based onsite and remote configuration and integration of IIoT equipment into industrial plant environments
  • Ensure within your responsibility a working data flow of the end-to-end applications and contribute by this to a successful customer rollout
  • Collaborate with external development partners and ensure that their deliverables fit our deployment requirements
  • Willingness to travel internationally (~5%)




  • 3+ years of experience in Linux-based Systems
  • BSc/MSc A degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or significant experience
  • Ability to use and integrate a wide variety of open source technologies
  • Knowledge of Docker / Microservices, Linux, shell scripting and IT Security
  • Preferred understanding of code technologies like:
  • Kubernetes
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Terraform or Pulumi
  • Experience with self-service cloud provisioning: ECS instances, IAM users, ELB, etc.
  • Automated Provisioning & Orchestration (e.g. GitLab CI/CD, Travis CI, Ansible)
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP v4/v6 networks and how to manage them in cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes
  • Beneficial if experience in operating a backend data lake stack.
  • Must have experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools
  • Being comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
  • Ideally experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Hands on, action-oriented self-starter who can drive projects with minimal oversight
  • Openness to criticism to benefit project development
  • Fluent in English is a must. German or other additional languages are beneficial
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with focus on test driven development and CI/CD/DevOps
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Robust knowledge and experience in the area of cloud operations with an aspect of monitoring
  • Strong desire to learn a variety of technologies and processes with a “can do” attitude
  • Ability to develop and operate fluidly within a complete toolchain/functional area - from development to complete support, alongside the fast pace of new technological development
  • Able to work in network structures and cross-functional, multi-cultural teams
  • Outgoing, open, transparent, and communicative
  • Open minded to new ideas and concepts
  • Self-motivated, structured and organized
  • Affinity for IT technologies
