Summary –

The Project Planner is responsible for the functions of project scheduling and controlling. He/She is a key member of the project team and supports the Project Manager with all scheduling and financial aspects of the project including cost control, baselining and updating of a schedule, variance analysis, recovery plans, earned value analysis, Monte Carlo risk analysis, and cash flow.  The incumbent in this position will have significant interface with the Project Management organization in addition to the functional areas of Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Field Service. He/She will interface when needed directly with external partners and customers.

The Project Planner can overview the project execution from both high level and detailed perspectives. He/she should have a good understanding of hydro power plants and be able to understand the sequence of parts in engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and erection. He/She will ensure tools and processes are followed and will define counter measures to ensure quality of data. He/She will monitor key performance indicators and take the necessary actions to ensure excellent execution of projects.

Responsibilities –

 

  • Performs a variety of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of Primavera P6 project schedules including: WBS structure development, logic links, constraints, resource loading, progress tracking, earned value reporting, float management, etc.
  • Ensures that all planning requirements (according to contract and internal processes) in terms of planning, scheduling and progress reporting are understood and followed by the project team.
  • Establishes baseline schedules, monitors progress and implements corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinates and drives alignment between engineering, supply chain and field service teams as well as external partners and customer expectations
  • Manages and controls the schedule proactively, to ensure project completion on or before the contractually agreed date by monitoring and reporting closely critical paths, project float and interfaces with other parties on a day-to-day basis.
  • Works proactively with Project teams to identify in advance potential delays, escalates the delay impact and suggests effective recovery plans with parties involved, under the leadership of the Project Manager and Head of Project Scheduling.
  • Performs schedule risk assessments and provides real-time project visibility to leadership and customer.
  • Produces high-quality reporting, schedule updates, and earned value analysis. Ensures key metrics and benchmarks (internal and external) are in place to effectively gauge schedule performance and promote continuous improvement. 
  • Leads schedule update meetings within the project team or other functions.
  • Regularly maintain systems to ensure quality of data. Involve all the areas needed to monitor and solve exception messages, perform on time confirmation, and provide status
  • Support Project Managers with customer reports, presentations and meetings related to scheduling and delivery performance

Qualifications –

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering
  • An advanced degree would be a plus
  • Previous experience in project-business or manufacturing environment would be preferred
  • Project and/or construction scheduling experience
  • Project and/or proposal management experience
  • Or equivalent experience in Engineering, Purchasing/Sourcing, Manufacturing or Construction
  • Excellent analytical and organization skill
  • Excellent interaction and communication skills
  • Solid language skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Production planning experience in custom manufactured products and/or Engineer-to-order business experience (hydro product knowledge preferred)
  • PERT/CPM, EVM, Float Management, Capacity Planning, Fast Tracking, Crashing
  • Advanced user qualifications in Primavera (P6), resource loading, cost loading, baseline, claim digger, progress tracking
  • Advanced user qualification in SAP PP, PS, MM, MRP
  • Team player, effective negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Must have demonstrated successful experience and proactivity
  • Previous experience in project-business or manufacturing environment would be preferred
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of Accounting Standards (US GAAP & IFRS)
  • Expertise in Excel and overall MS Office suite
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP would be a plus)
