These steel rolls, that weigh as much as 50 tons, are of very high precision to be used for papermaking. For the Canada team of Group Division Voith Paper, we are looking for:

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Assistant  
Hawkesbury, ON


1-year Full-time or Part-time Position


As HSE assistant/student in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and passion to support the local HSE, Quality & Continuous Improvement Coordinator in all the daily/monthly tasks and reporting that are key to our plant operations. This opportunity will be tailored to the knowledge and interest of the candidate.


More specifically, you will actively participate in the following tasks:

  • Maintain and develop the local HSE system
  • Manage the yearly program’s timeline and associated tasks, trainings & legal requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings, monthly shop tours and investigations, along with the JHSC
  • Document and follow up of safety incidents
  • Prepare and present weekly safety subjects/discussions
  • Implement and develop the local Quality system towards ISO certification
  • Develop and coordinate internal procedure changes
  • Support and manage controlled forms for all departments


As part of this assignment the individual will also be challenged to put his/her project management and cooperation skills to the test, leading (under supervision) specific/targeted project(s) from start to finish. Projects may include to plan and develop:

  • Confined space identification revision
  • Lock-out Tag-out form update
  • Respiratory protection analysis
  • Employee competence matrix
  • Management of change procedure
  • Processes definition and mapping
  • Calibration campaign (measuring tools)


Your profile :

  • Student or recent graduate in a related field of study, such as Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, or Workplace Safety and Prevention.
  • Bilingual French & English
  • Comfortable working in an industrial unionized environment
  • Knowledge of Ontario OHS regulations an asset
  • Capacity to work both autonomously and in teams
  • Proficient with MS Office tools, including SharePoint
