Sales Representative III  
Mid-South Region


Sales Representative III in the Mid-South Region which includes the Florida panhandle, western Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and parts of Tennessee and Louisiana.  This position requires a location South of I-20 and well located in the sales territory.



The Sales Representative is responsible for specific paper mill accounts in which they will call on key decision makers such as paper machine superintendents, production managers and other management / technical personnel.   Primary function is to develop, maintain and grow a core base of annual sales of paper machine clothing, rolls and press sleeves.  The Sales Rep has accountability for regional performance for sales, orders, complaints, receivables and expense management.



  • Promote a safe work environment by completing all safety training required by Voith and customer mills and by demonstrating safe work practices on the job.
  • Manage accounts as it relates to present budget objectives on sales and orders, complaints, receivables and travel / entertainment expenses.
  • Cooperate and interface with all internal functions of sales, customer service, manufacturing, applications and administrative support to accomplish objectives.
  • Determine with sales management and regional team members the prescribed levels of call frequencies through account planning to properly support customer mills both on a routine and on shutdowns.
  • Maintain customer records and files for account planning.  This includes an ongoing forecast for expected business volume by product line, inventory control, opportunity management, visit reports, etc.  Communication to sales management of account development is a critical component.
  • Make sales and service calls to customer mills to perform routine inspections and service both during machine shut downs as well as on the run.  This includes responding to unscheduled customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and assist in installations, reporting to both customers and appropriate Voith personnel and inputting information to various databases and customer relationship management portals.
  • Promote Voith products through value-added selling / addressing customer needs.  This includes the ability to present product information, data analyses, technical reports and other information.



  • 4 year degree and/or equivalent experience for the position.
  • 5 years of experience in the paper industry is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel with an expectation of 70% travel expected in this position.  Travel will be local to the territory in most conditions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer systems, data collection and data analysis is preferred.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel products, reach with arms and hands, do some lifting, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching.  Exposure to heat is common on paper machines.
