This R&D Design Engineer is responsible for processing and managing customer account product developmental projects; the Engineer is a problem solver and provides design and technical support of projects from inception through production, and to completion.




  • Generate and update process documentation, work Instructions, flow charts, etc.
  • Establish new product specifications i.e. tolerances, characteristics, etc.
  • Review customer source control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of the component.
  • Perform all necessary calculations such as stress analysis, performance analysis, pressure drop and flow analysis, etc. as required.
  • Interact with mechanical personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas regarding company products.
  • Prepare preliminary design proposals and participate in engineering and general design review as required.

Project Manager:

  • Effectively support customers by managing customer projects from initial quotation through project completion.
  • Interact with customers on engineering design and any questions/problems they may have.
  • Prepare proposal quotation(s) and documentation.
  • Prepare technical data such as qualification and acceptance of trial designs, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.


  • Perform a liaison function between engineering and all mechanical services operations for any related issues, problems, or improvements.
  • Networking with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company.
  • Coordinate as required with internal groups including purchasing, quality control, sales, production, accounting personnel, metal finishing and assembly.



  • Bachelor of engineering degree from four-year accredited college or university. Or a combination of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of college degree, textile engineering background is a plus.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Proficient with computers applications MS Office suite, CAD, including electronic document control and distribution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Can communicate effectively with other engineers, customers, shop floor team members etc.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking skills and ability to independently manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot as necessary to achieve swift and accurate project results.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, across different levels of the organization.
  • Professional, personable & diplomatic.
  • Able to prioritize and act logically amid pressures & deadlines
  • Work independently.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to work both on a computer and phone.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel for on-site measurements of equipment and/or meetings as required, both domestic and international.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
