Supervisor, Project & Supplier QA  
Brossard, QC

 

Summary – The Supervisor of Project & Supplier Quality is responsible for assuring that the products being delivered to our clients meet our engineering standards, are fit for purpose and free from defects, operational problems, or errors. This is accomplished by developing a team to provide technical direction for all quality related activities and establishing processes to ensure effective coordination between internal and external customers/suppliers during the marketing, engineering, manufacturing and installation phase of a project. 

 

Responsibilities –

  • Ensure you and your team members complete all work safely by following standards and identifying then correcting hazards
  • Oversee the training and development of Quality personnel ensuring adequate technical and process knowledge
  • Project and maintain adequate quality staffing levels to support business needs
  • Assure compliance and effectiveness of inspection processes and personnel including qualifications
  • Assure the incorporation of the customer and Voith quality requirements into Voith’s processes and designs by overseeing the development of project specific quality plans and ITPs
  • Provide cost estimates for quality support and monitor budgets during project execution
  • Lead supplier qualification, auditing, rating and reporting process to assist in determination supplier capacity and capability
  • Ensure quality personnel are meeting contractual submittals deadlines and supporting component releases dates by completing inspections and documentation reviews on time
  • Define, identify, and apply product and process control methods such as developing control plans, identifying critical control points, developing and validating work instructions, etc.
  • Define receiving inspection techniques and requirements
  • Review specifications, standards, drawings and/or requisitions with Engineering personnel to determine the following: Level and type of NDE required for components, Dimensional Inspection Requirements, Customer Specification compliance, Requirements for inspection
  • Assist with dispositioning nonconformances, perform root cause analysis, issue requests for corrective actions (internal & external) and track/follow-up on open items
  • Verify inspection records & documentation compliance perform inspection results trend analysis

 

Qualifications –

  • Bachelor Of Science Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding, Materials, Quality, Industrial, or related Engineering field
  • Specific knowledge of Casting, Forging, Welding, Machining, Visual Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and Ultrasonic Inspections
  • Interpret technical drawings including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T symbols, etc. Interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy manufacturing or engineer-to-order manufacturing, preferable experience is in power generation equipment manufacture for both turbines and generators
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess the ability to meet and interface with customers and proactively work to resolve issues and accomplish tasks between internal and external customers.

  • The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
  • The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
  • The job requires travel.
