Sr. Site Manager 
British Columbia



The Site Manager is in charge of the overall supervision and leadership during the installation and commissioning phases of new equipment or modernization of existing facilities. He or she represents the company in the relation with the client’s representatives in all phases of installation and commissioning. The Site Manager makes sure that the work is done according to the terms and conditions established in the contract, schedule, quality standards, budget and corporate values and by respecting the employees, customers and subcontractors values. The nature of work varies according to the contract and may include turbines, generators, control equipment and any mechanical or electrical support equipment.


Main responsibilities:


  • Responsible together with the site team to meet the project objectives in terms of health and safety, schedule, cost, quality and contractual requirements.
  • Establish and ensure good communication between the customer and stakeholders
  • Elaborates the work planning and the schedules, manages and supervises all activities of installation, repair and / or replacement of mechanical, electrical and auxiliary components;
  • Motivates and supervises a team of professionals assigned to the site and is responsible for the administration, technical support and quality;
  • Makes sure all work is done in order to preserve the health and safety of all workers on site;
  • Maintain good relationships and communicates on a regular basis with the client’s representative;
  • Maintains good working relationships with all staff assigned to the site, including representatives of various trade unions involved in the project;
  • Takes the leadership and respects the schedule and budgets;
  • Monitors and verifies the documentation of variations (i.e., the importance of work, delivery problems and / or quality, additional work requested by the customer, etc.)
  • Makes sure that the client approves the work by negotiating effectively in order to achieve the customer satisfaction and to respect the best interests of the company;
  • Prepares reports of project monitoring, maintains regular communication with the Project Manager and executive management team of Voith Hydro. 


Preferred profile:

The person has good entrepreneurial skills and the ability to achieve results in an environment where the relationship and the communication with different key players are critical to the success of the project. The incumbent has experience is in managing project resources, he is a disciplined, organized and open-minded person. He must also demonstrate the ability to make logical decisions in a stressful environment in order to effectively solve problems related to the site.
Specific technical knowledge and previous experience in the power industry are assets. The candidate must have relevant experience in a managerial position, was involved in major projects and holds a Bachelor degree. Experience in hydroelectric site is preferred. The candidate has a minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar functions and 5 on a Canadian unionized construction site. He/she must be available to work at Site C dam in BC and for assignments across Canada. PMP certification and bilingualism are an asset.
