The candidate requires to be able to adjust to the need of the organization. He must be able to provide flexibility in schedule and travel in order to meet the expectation of the position. This position could require full time presence on-site depending of project size, needs or contractual requirements. For now, we are foreseeing the position to be working from home with travels, as required to support the organization needs. Candidate must be located in the province of BC, ideally in the Greater Vancouver area. This position is open for a 2 years contract with possibility of extension.


BCH Partnership

The partnership is a conditions between Voith and BC Hydro that defines a frame work for the replacement/modernization of specific small and medium generators in the BC Hydro fleet.  Its fundamentals are for Voith and BC Hydro to work together to define the scope of work and then execute the work for these generators and to maintain continuity from project to project and site to site. 


Major responsibilities and tasks :


  • Act as the subject matter expert for all health, safety and environmental sites issues.
  • Establish a climate of collaboration with various parties at the different Voith locations (Voith team and client).

  • Support all active sites, warranty and future projects in development of all required HSE documents (i.e. Confined space assessments, Ventilation plans, Site Safety Management Plan, Safe Job Procedures, Environmental plans etc.).

  • Develop and ensuring the coordination of the various tasks during the pre-mobilization, mobilization, commissioning, demobilization phases of all GMA projects.

  • Ensure the implementation and monitoring of all local and provincial regulatory requirements, customer frames, prevention and HSE system plans (Voith and client) and work processes to ensure smooth running of sites.

  • Participate in implementation and monitoring of safety training programs for Voith site employees and personnel according to the corporate guidelines.

  • Perform, as required, site audits and inspections to confirmed compliance of project locations.

  • Act as a resource (mentoring and coaching) for managers, supervisors and site personnel on Health and Safety policies, procedures and practices.

  • Be proactive in proposing changes to improve efficiency of HSE at the site level and on existing safety programs.

  • Analyze and provide support to the site on accidents investigations, incidents or near misses and deliver strong corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Be a leader in HSE culture change.

  • Follow all KPIs and requirements to keep sites in compliance status for Voith, client and authorities.

  • Be the client point of contact in regards to HSE matters.




  • Minimum of ten-fifteen (10-15) years working experience on construction sites as OHS and Env. professional,
  • Candidate to be located in the province of BC, ideally in the Greater Vancouver area,

  • Self-managing, self-driven, organized and reliable, proactive, autonomy, team player, good sense of work prioritization, solution driven and multi-task,

  • Ability to get HSE buying top-down,

  • Knowledge of hydropower sector,

  • Knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations,

  • Excellent communication skill in English (verbal and written), French would be an asset,

  • Able to lead large numbers of project sites in an unionized work environment,

  • Able to build trust with the site team and influence changes through comprehensive risk and safety data assessment,

  • Knowledge of required procedures and requirements for silica dust control, lead paint and asbestos,

  • Knowledge of Certificate of Recognition (COR) requirements,

  • Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint,

  • Internal COR auditor, is an asset,

  • Registration with the Board of Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP), is an asset.
