Project Engineer (Senior Level) - Generator Engineering

 

Your role

You will be an active member of the engineering team at our Brossard offices, your role will be to lead the generator engineering that is specific to the current projects. Your work team will be composed of engineers and technicians in a project matrix organization.   You will report to the Supervisor, generator engineering.

 

Your tasks

  • Technical manager in the project team;
  • Technical reference for peers in the engineering team;
  • Planning and monitoring of engineering activities that are specific to the projects under your responsibility;
  • Develop and / or verify engineering reports;
  • Development of technical manufacturing specifications and procedures of generator components;
  • Technical assistance for the supply, manufacturing and on-site installation of equipment;
  • Review of contract to ensure the concordance between the technical requirements, the estimate made during the proposal stage and the final scope of the work;
  • Technical and economic validation of the final concepts of generator configuration;
  • Technical coordination between representatives from other disciplines involved in the design;
  • Supervision of engineers and technicians producing manufacturing drawings and doing the final verification thereof;
  • Creating and / or verification of analytical calculations and FEA for validation of the structural strength of generator components;
  • Creating and / or verification of on-site assembly procedures including dimensional check sheets and start- up procedures;
  • Participation and technical assistance in the commissioning of turbine-generator units;
  • Accountable to all technical aspects of projects, design reviews with customers and consulting engineers;
  • Develop, update and control the application of standards, methods and practices related to generator engineering.
     
    Your Profile
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience with hydro electrical generator engineering;
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Knowledge of numerical calculation and modeling tools used in the hydro electric industry;
  • Good knowledge of French and English, spoken and written;
  • Available for occasional trips to project sites in Canada and USA.
