For the Voith Hydro, Commercial Management team, we are looking for you as a:

Commercial Manager (1 year contract)

The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting with all commercial components of project start up, performance and project finalization. This position manages and facilitates advice on all commercial risks and legal issues for assigned projects. In addition, this individual will interface with internal departments on a variety of different aspects during the project execution.  The incumbent represents the company commercially during negotiations and will serve as the principal contact with the company’s attorneys.




  • Identify and analyze commercial risks affecting company and adheres to Voith Group Directives covering all internal and external areas of potential risk.
  • Reviews sales contracts and works with OTO team members to facilitate contract review and contractual risk identification.
  • Responsibility for GDD 510 Risk Sheet completion and obtaining appropriate approvals for assigned bid submissions.
  • Facilitate bonding, standby letters of credit or other performance guarantees for assigned project bids and projects.  Provide appropriate language and contractual review to adhere to Voith Group Directives and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate contractual review with internal and outside Counsel and supports project teams with risk, compliance and contractual concerns.
  • Adheres to Voith Group Directives covering all internal and external areas of potential risk and compliance concerns. 
  • Works closely and coordinates with the Technical roles and processes in order to achieve a comprehensive assessment of each major sales contract.
  • As major sales contracts mature, monitors periodically the status of commercial issues and updates all appropriate reports.
  • Provides data such as value of risks, cash flow and book costs on charge numbers for operating unit and Voith reporting.
  • Seeks agreement with Client to close the site. Agreements include:
    • All Punch Lists items settled.
    • All claims to client, contractor and consortium Partners are settled.
    • All obligations toward local authorities cleared such as corporate tax declarations, social insurance, personal income tax declaration, and value added tax.
    • All Temporary equipment returned and custom duties cleared.
  • Arranges for official closure of permanent establishment Principal Working Relationships.
  • Receives project assignments and direction from Director of Contract and Risk Management.




  • B.S./B.A. in Administration or Law or equivalent in work experience and education
  • Ability to analyze new situations
  • Familiarity with Contract Law
  • Understands insurance and banking
  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Administration of commercial contracts
  • Administration of Canadidan contracts
