*Eight-hour basic shifts; overtime required. Hours, days and shifts could vary according to need, crossing weekends and/or holidays.*



Sets up and operate a variety of machine tools to perform machining and grinding operations according to verbal instructions, specified written instructions and/or blueprints.



Qualified candidates need to:

  • Meet applicable introductory period
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass company alcohol and drug screening tests
  • Maintain a safe working environment. No employee shall pose a direct threat to the health and safety of self or others.
  • Possess hand tools and toolbox necessary for job and provide itemized list to employer for insurance purposes.  Minimum tool list will be provided by employer.
  • Preferably have five years machine shop experience and/or schooling
  • Demonstrate ability to set up and operate engine lathes, knee mills, vertical boring mills, horizontal mills and drill presses
  • Demonstrate familiarity with tool post grinding and/or belt grinding
  • Demonstrate ability to hand grind tool bits
  • Demonstrate ability to thread on lathe
  • Demonstrate ability to learn operation of large overhead cranes, and other lifting/transport devices

  • Maintain tolerances according to written or verbal instructions
  • Accurately use and read measuring devices
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.



  • Assume responsibilities of any or all jobs qualified to perform
  • May fight fires at incipient phase
  • Clean work area and maintain equipment during shift
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Run lathe, turn, bore, face, thread, grind and inspect parts
  • Operate horizontal and vertical mills, turn, grind, face, bore, drill, tap, counter bore, spot face, and inspect parts
  • Operate knee mill, face, bore, drill tap and inspect
  • Operate drill press, drill, counter bore, tap, spot face
  • Read and refer to blueprints to ensure work is within specifications
  • Look for improvements in machining processes and provide information to supervisor
  • Gather materials needed for job by operation of a crane, forklift and/or hand truck 
  • Inspect and measure components with precision tools and instruments to ensure they are within specifications
  • Complete timely reports on materials used on specific job
  • Complete report forms accurately
  • Troubleshoot machine or workpiece, make critical decisions and resolve problems
