The Service Representative is responsible for specific paper mill accounts in which they will call on key decision makers such as superintendents, asst. superintendents, shift supervisors and other management/technical personnel. Their primary function is to provide technical support, problem solving and data collection. They will also provide technical service on paper machines both while the machine is running as well as during machine shutdowns.  This support includes product installs, inspections and paper machine start up assistance, reporting and communication.



  • Promote a safe work environment by completing all safety training required by Voith and customer mills and by demonstrating safe work practices on the job.
  • Make regular mill calls to provide technical service which includes problem solving, data collection, monitoring product performance, project work and general account support.
  • Coordinates and performs in down-day service including product installations, inspections, reporting and start up support as required.
  • Determine with sales representative and regional team members the prescribed levels of call frequencies through account planning to properly support customer mills both on a routine and on shutdowns.
  • Maintain customer records and files including inventory control, opportunity management, product performance, visit reports, etc.  Communication of account development is a critical component.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • 5 years of experience in the paper industry is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel with an expectation of 70% travel expected in this position.  Travel will be local to the territory in most conditions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computer systems, data collection and data analysis is preferred.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel products, reach with arms and hands, do some lifting, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching.  Exposure to heat is common on paper machines.
