For the Voith US Inc., Technology Services department, we are looking for:

Process Engineer III  
Appleton, WI


Summary – Sr. Process Engineer for paper machines.  Provides process engineering investigations, working with customers and the Voith organization for start-ups, process optimizations, audits, productivity services and emergency field service.


Responsibilities –


  • Represent the aftermarket service business in North America for the paper machine process from stock approach to winder.
  • Ensure customer focus and provide competitive technology service
  • Provide paper mill audits and determine recommendations for such mill targets as: productivity increases, efficiency improvements, grade conversions, quality improvements, reduced energy consumption, etc.
  • Proposal and pricing for technology service work and audits.
  • Develop technology experts in your market to provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize customer installed base.
  • Provide startup and commissioning service to paper mills.
  • Analysis and evaluation of competitive solutions and feedback.
  • Support of sales and representation of process engineering towards the customer.
  • Meet annual sales and utilization goals.
  • Support of the executed plants in process optimization and problem solving.
  • Optimization activities to achieve the technological guarantees in close cooperation with the project manager.
  • Provide support for “Papermaking 4.0” in North America (Utilize digital / online instrumentation to predict / set operating targets to achieve quality / cost goals).
  • Define technological guarantees, including risk assessment and where appropriate, risk provisions.
  • Provide optimization measures in coordination with project management and product management.
  • Ensure competitive technological paper mill service and equipment start-up / commissioning


Qualifications –


  • Business travel can be as high as 70%.  A high degree of flexibility in work organization is required.  Due to market or customer requirements, there are often short notice of changes to priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to read mechanical and P&ID drawings and bills of materials.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and writing with good customer relations skills.
  • Pertinent organizational skills necessary to meet deadlines, work under stress and perform in a multitasking role.
  • Ability to operate independent of daily direction.
  • Degree related to Engineering / Paper Science
