Responsibilities:

  • Learn the press fabric production process. Understand the different products produced and how they affect various customer machines.
  • Update press fabric design workbook that includes internal machine drawings, procedures, and design specifications.
  • Analyze process data – both internal and external – to help with troubleshooting efforts and deliberate improvement projects.
  • Test physical characteristics of press fabrics – new and used – to develop product comparisons to be used in the application and design process.
  • Help develop processes and procedures to improve manufacturing or paper machine runnabilitiy.
  • Ability and desire to travel to local customer machines to observe press fabric installation, collect process data, and participate in customer meetings.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, weekly design meetings, and other information sharing sessions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to succeed in a team environment
  • Proactive with strong time management skills and the ability to work autonomously to deliver on deadlines

 

Summary: 

The Press Fabric Design and Application Team links the internal production of press fabrics with the success of our customers' machines.  The Application and Design intern will become a trusted member of the team by completing various projects that create the visibility of the press product line and how the product improves the paper machine.  The internship will be based at the press production plant with opportunities to visit customer sites in and around the Appleton, WI area.
