Intern, Fiber Systems Engineering
Appleton, Wisconsin
Responsibilities:
- Use computer aided design/drafting equipment and related software to design and detailmachines for the paper industry.
- Reviews product designs for compliance with soundengineering principles, company standards,and customer purchase order requirements and related technical and mill specifications.
- Develops and prepares detailed drawings,part records,bills of material and instruction manuals for orders.
- Coordinates engineering and other related order issues with both our customer externally, and internally with our sales, product management, application engineering, supply chain,manufacturing and quality groups, as required, to maintain the order schedule and budget.
- Performs engineering design calculations for mechanical strength, reliability, safety and cost;including Risk Assessments and Design to Cost evaluations and studies.

Balancing competing priorities from external and internal customers.

Completing projects quickly without sacrificing accuracy and quality.

Create material masters, Bills of Material, & detail drawings.

Design parts and assemblies in coordination withother design engineers and product management.

Communication with all departments at Voith Paper–Appleton, and with other Voith Paper locations (domestic and international).

Direct communication with customers, or indirectly through project managers.

Communication with outside suppliers and engineering companies.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of engineering classes in pursuit of aBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineeringor similar degree
- Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program
- Experience with AutoCAD Inventor and SAP preferred, but not necessary

Working onmultiple projects concurrently.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability t owork on a computer and phone.
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
Summary:
An engineering intern assists engineers in the design of paper machinery and related equipment and performs other tasks as assigned to support the design engineering departmentwhile learning skills for future employment.
