The "Service Engineer Winders" is a member of the Technical Service Department working under the direction of the Technical Services Manager. The Service Engineer's responsibilities include on site handling of services for Winders, preventive maintenance & repair or troubleshooting according to the Voith product portfolio guidelines and procedures. Furthermore, planning, organizing, and supervision of capital equipment installation and commissioning of New Winders or Winder rebuilds.

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY

The Service Engineer Winder (Field Technician) is a member of the Technical Service Department working under the direction of the Technical Services Manager.  The Service Engineer’s responsibilities include on site handling of services for Winders, preventive maintenance & repair or troubleshooting according to the Voith product portfolio guidelines and procedures. Additional responsibilities include planning, organizing, and supervision of capital equipment installation and commissioning of New Winders or Winder rebuilds.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Servicing Winders in line with Voith manuals and service recommendations. Installation and/or installation supervision of replacement / spare parts; new parts for upgrades and Winder rebuilds.
  • Plan, organize, and perform and/or supervise work performed in the field at customer’s mill sites and provide a safe work environment in the field.
  • Close out the service with a detailed report of tasks accomplished and further recommendations including recommended parts and upgrades if appropriate.
  • Collaboration with customer personnel, engineering companies and contractors as well as various Voith departments involved in the projects.
  • Participate in installation related discussions, scheduling and project planning, in house or at customer sites.
  • Conduct follow up visits to complete any punch list items and complete the project for final acceptance by the customer.
  • Provide training to mill services personnel and operators as needed.
  • Recommend and oversee the maintenance of equipment.
  • Complete timely and accurate service reports, time records, and expense forms.
  • Conduct or participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, and / or customers.
  • Take responsibility for documentation of all appropriate communication, customer and employee interaction and correspondence.
  • Ability to travel on a frequent basis within NAFTA, occasional international travel will be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as in-house technical assistance for customers.

 

Experience required (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)

  • Experienced in installation work in the paper industry, and ability to learn the details of a variety of system concepts and designs.
  • Good mechanical aptitude as well as basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and controls.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, control schematics and bills of materials.
  • Proficient in Windows based programs: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Microsoft Project.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, and written, with good customer relation skills.
  • Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple proposal efforts including tracking and updating each proposals progress.
  • Ability to operate independent of daily direction.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED (minimum)

  • High school degree in and/or related experience
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering or similar degree preferred
