Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Purchasing - NPM North America, the position works in collaboration and alignment with Category Managers, Buyers, Engineers, Production Materials Purchasing and Finance. This role is responsible for managing the various aspects of sourcing indirect (non-production) & direct (production) goods and services from external suppliers. Key responsibilities include:
- Identify and source requirements from a supply base of current and/or new suppliers based on the project needs, specifications, flow down requirements and material group strategy / business targets.
- Analyze requirements and support the establishment of supply agreements with defined, or targeted suppliers in the support of specific site project objectives.
- Executes the source to contract process – prepares / issue tenders / eRFQ’s, analyzes sources & offers, recommends business award, negotiates contracts, and supports local implementation.
- Receive and review purchase requisitions from Operation Units and ensure the accuracy of information
- Actively participates and supports the implementation & execution of the material group (category) strategy and team. Implements but also influences the N.A. regional category strategy (re: savings programs, supplier performance, project funnel, performance improvement actions, etc.).
- Support the achievement of total cost, service level performance, quality, speed, risk management / control objectives.
- Support the proper set-up of ongoing purchase orders.
- Receive, review and evaluate vendor proposals to make purchase recommendations and issue POs.
- Actively participant in on-going meetings and accountable for purchasing deliverables are accomplished. Works with suppliers in support of active projects.
- Ensure that the goods and services are on-time and ensuring that all quality documentation is available.
- Monitor and follow-up with suppliers to ensure compliance with the contracted agreements, and order terms and conditions.
Experience & Qualifications
- Required: Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in strategic supply management (sourcing, negotiations, project management, planning).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Capable of working as part of a team and directing and/or coordinating meetings, as needed, related to supply problems.
- Previous experience as a Buyer/ Sourcing/Planner for production or non-production materials and services using an ERP system required.
- Strong negotiation skills
- JDE specific experience highly desirable.
- Available to travel as needed (regional travel ~ 10%).
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management equivalent.
