Summary –
The Summer Tax Intern will support the Tax Department by assisting with various tax compliance, tax accounting, and administrative activities. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in corporate taxation while working alongside experienced tax professionals. The intern will assist with tax return preparation, tax research, data collection, reconciliation of tax-related information, and special projects while developing an understanding of federal, state, local, and international tax compliance processes.
Responsibilities –
- Assist with the preparation of sales and use tax, property tax, and Canadian GST/QST filings.
- Support the preparation of the US federal, state, and local income tax returns and workpapers.
- Gather and organize financial data used in tax compliance and tax provision processes.
- Assist with maintaining tax records, supporting schedules, and electronic filing documentation.
- Perform basic tax research using internal and external resources.
- Assist with fixed asset tax depreciation schedules and related reconciliations.
- Support tax account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Participate in tax process improvement and automation initiatives.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the Tax Manger and/or Tax Director.
- Work collaboratively with Accounting Finance, and other departments.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn new accounting and tax software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education and Experience -
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Completion of introductory accounting coursework required.
- Completion of corporate or individual taxation coursework preferred.
Physical Requirements (Office Example – modify as necessary) -
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
