Position Summary:

The Systems Specialist supports automation and control systems within major North American pulp and paper mills by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical and electronic equipment. This hands-on role ensures reliable operation of instrumentation and control systems, contributing to efficient mill performance and safety. Ideal candidates bring experience in industrial electronics, electrical systems, or equivalent military training, with strong troubleshooting and technical skills in automation environments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial equipment following electrical code, manuals, and schematics

• Provide hands-on extensive technical support to all manufacturing operations for instrumentation and electrical control applications

• Troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic equipment

• Installing new electrical equipment, inventory and parts management

• Supporting other maintenance activities including mechanical tasks as required

• Performing tasks to include, but not limited to, testing, calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, indicating, and control instruments / equipment

 

Qualifications:

• Associates degree or higher education in, Electrical Systems, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Electronics, Electro-mechanical, Electrical System Maintenance or Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Automation or related degree or related military experience

• At least two (2) years of electrical/electronic and/or instrument & control troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including periods of time in noisy, dusty, hot, or cold environments

• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and knowledge of various electrical sensors, switches, controllers, instrumentation, transmitters, automated valves, calibrations, industrial communications, robotics, motion control, and AC/DC control power

• QCS experience with equipment (Honeywell, ABB, Mahlo, Valmet, Thermofisher, etc.) OR - equivalent military work experience (fire control, nuclear, weapons control, avionics, electronics, etc...) preferred but not required.
